NEW ADDRESS.

Okay cybernuats, I moved to a new server. Please update your bookmarks and links as I will no longer be posting on this address. The new domain is:
Teleomorph.com
I will be posting there from now on, and even though there is little time for blogging in these hectic days, I just can't seem to totally tear myself away. Internet novelty just won't cease being surprising. :)

Flavor Tripping

A video and article from The New York Times details a small fruit that alters the taste buds to make astringent and acidic flavors sweet. And it looks like a new trend is in the making.

“You pop it in your mouth and scrape the pulp off the seed, swirl it around and hold it in your mouth for about a minute,” he said. “Then you’re ready to go.” He ushered his guests to a table piled with citrus wedges, cheeses, Brussels sprouts, mustard, vinegars, pickles, dark beers, strawberries and cheap tequila, which Mr. Aliquo promised would now taste like top-shelf Patrón.

The miracle fruit, Synsepalum dulcificum, is native to West Africa and has been known to Westerners since the 18th century. The cause of the reaction is a protein called miraculin, which binds with the taste buds and acts as a sweetness inducer when it comes in contact with acids, according to a scientist who has studied the fruit, Linda Bartoshuk at the University of Florida’s Center for Smell and Taste.

Windfall, the psychedelic swamp thing...

I uploaded the issue of Swamp Thing by Alan Moore #43, which is the trippiest psychedelic initiation depiction you ever saw in a comic book.
Very highly recommended. (Thanks to Jeff Whitmore for pointing it out.)
You'll have to enlarge each picture in the series to read it, or download them all and read them from your hard drive when you want.

He was recently a senior research scientist focusing on the research and development of new energy technology at the International Space Sciences Organization. To hear him talk you would think he had majored in Literature, but his Science is convincing and only solidifies the consensus that Mark is one interesting guy."

J. Ott, D. McKenna, M. Winkelman, R. Metzner and more from Basel

Two audio files of very groovy lectures by Dennis McKenna are up on Psychonautica, one on 'Psychedelics in basic neuroscience and clinical practise' and another dubbed "bitter brews and other abominations: the use of some little known psychoactive agents."

And the Youtube Psychonaut channel has uploaded a fascinating talk by Sire of Psychonautics and word-weaver extraordinaire, Jonathan Ott, about anahuascas.

Also on the Psychonaut channel is brief video from Micheal Winkelmann, co-editor of the new textbook, Psychedelic Medicine, on the role of psychedelics in human evolution; a sort-of scientific update on Terence McKenna's speculations. And more updated frequently.

Empire of "The City"

I saw this last year and I was pretty impressed. Many, many aspects of history and esoteria are woven together in this accomplishment of conspiracy research. It's very long but very dense with an amazing assortment of previously occult historical and contemporary truth. She kinda misses the point when she gets to LSD and entheogens but otherwise a golden romp through revisionist history. Of course, being a work of the art of intuitive paranoia the video may seem to dwell on the sinister but hey, this is "history" were talkin' about and what is a worse nightmare than 'history.'

The narrator argues that the
"City of London + City of Vatican + City of Columbia [D.C.] are the 3 independent states within states which composes the empire of the city. The first is financial control over earth economy, the second is religion control over the earth and the third one is military control over the earth. Together they make the very unholy trinity which forms the egyptian pyramid that we can see on the back of the privately owned federal reserve note that is used as american dollar to maintain the colony in debt and under the Queen. Many people realize that this mystifying situation, in which an alleged democratic and self-governing nation is actually controlled against the will of the people, is a clear indication that there must be a very powerful and well-financed occult organization which plans and directs world affairs, and for lack of a more specific identification thie suspected secret organization is popularly referred to as the International Financiers, Banksters cartel or "The Crown corporation"

(Total running time: 5 1/2 hours. )

Plasma dynamics and the mythology of electricity

This is a really nice doc about the more contemporary models of physics and the current revisions of cosmology. Following the work of David Talbott and a host of advanced astro-physicists, the links between ancient cross-continental mythology and the pervasive, structured energy that comprises the observable universe are explored. Definitely recommended viewing for those interested in physics, electricity or cosmology.
